OKC Zoo debuts Zoo Ranger GPS tours
Wouldn’t it be “zooper” if you could get your own personal tour of the Zoo whenever you wanted? Well, now you can! The Oklahoma City Zoo is excited to debut Zoo Ranger™, a new self-guided GPS (Global Positioning System) touring system. The Zoo is the third zoo in the nation to offer this fun and unique touring device.
Zoo Ranger is a handheld video tour guide system that provides informative and entertaining videos, audio, photography and animation about the Zoo’s animals and exhibits based on location using the power of GPS technology. Taking them virtually “behind-the-scenes,” guests will learn more about the Zoo’s animal collection, enrichment activities and behavior training from keepers and staff while on their tour. Each tour includes 27 video “stops” highlighting exhibits and animals such as Oklahoma Trails, Cat Forest/Lion Over, Andean Condors, venomous snakes, sea lions and more!
Zoo Ranger is appropriate for guests of all ages and easy to use. Rent one during your next Zoo visit for $9.95 for a 3.5 hour experience. Zoo Ranger can be rented from the stroller rental window located at the Zoo’s main entrance.
